If your artwork is by a famous artist, in good condition, has retained its original integrity, meaning that it has not been modified or cut down since it was created, if it is a large and impressive example of the artist's best production, it can probably be sold to a museum.

An important condition is of course that its authenticity must be strongly established. There cannot be questions, doubts, hesitations about what it is.
